The Embassy is seeking to recruit a positive, energetic, and service-minded Assistant to the Defence Attaché with an interest and flair for analysis and open source intelligence collection

The defence team is a small and dynamic team, led by the Defence Attaché. The team is responsible for all embassy operations within the remit of defence and defence policy. The team is cooperating closely with the political and economic affairs team. The Defence Team refers to the Ministry of Defence and covers China, the Republic of Korea and Japan.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities as Assistant to the Defence Attaché

You will participate in the team’s daily tasks and assist the Defence Attaché in the following topics and areas:

  • Information gathering and analyses
  • Preparation and drafting of newsletters and reports related to Defence and Security
  • Compiling open source intelligence reports
  • Partaking in meetings, seminars and conferences relevant to defence
  • Planning, organization and execution of meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences
  • Planning, organization and execution of travel activities
  • Undertaking duty travels inside China relevant to defence

     

    Required qualifications

  • An academic background. Military background is an advantage but not a must.
  • Fluent in Danish and English. Knowledge of Chinese is an advantage but not a must.
  • Good communication skills, oral and written.
  • Experience with drafting security policy- or defence related analyses is an advantage but not a must.
  • Good team-working and social skills.
  • Service minded with a flexible and constructive attitude.
  • A methodical (structured and systematic) work approach.
  • Able to work independently and self-driven.

Salary and employment conditions

You will be employed on a local contract. The employment is 40 hours per week. Your salary will reflect your experience and level of qualifications. Upon mutual agreement, the contract can be adjusted to reflect the needs of the right candidate.

 

We would prefer the right candidate to start as soon as possible.

About us

The Royal Danish Embassy in Beijing is part of the Danish Foreign Service. The Embassy is an ambitious, high-paced and dynamic workplace with approximately 70 employees, of whom 26 are posted from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Embassy has a flat management structure.

 

The Embassy’s primary tasks are to ensure that the Chinese-Danish diplomatic relations are maintained and optimized. Besides the Defence team, the Embassy consists of teams covering, Political and Economic Affairs, Trade, Visa & Consular, Administration and Public Diplomacy.
